Eric is really enjoying taking Cameron out for walks in the woods. He's getting older now and this is something Eric has been waiting to share with Cam. They both love the outdoors and nature. On Easter Sunday - Eric and Cam went for a walk in the woods on some friends property. Eric was hoping they would find a shed, or something cool for Cam to see - and boy did they!! They came across this buck - with horns still in tact. Eric couldn't believe it. Cameron was so excited and couldn't wait to get home and show Mommy and Sis :) He was pretty proud of the buck he found and thought it was a pretty special birthday present :)

Four

My precious firstborn son is 4 years old today. I say this every time, but where does the time go? It truly seems like yesterday that we brought him home. During my pregnancy with Cameron, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I controlled it with my diet, but still had to check my blood 4 times a day. I also had to have non-stress tests twice a week during the last few months because they knew he would be a big baby. I was due on April 20. April 14, 2005 I was up at the hospital having one of my non-stress tests. I was all hooked up to the monitors, listening to the steady rythym of his heartbeat. I noticed that rythym changing and looked at the monitor and his heartrate had dropped to 80. The nurses came rushing in and I had to lay in different positions, and eventually it came up again. I had been having a contraction, and they figured this made his heartrate drop. They told me to call Eric b/c they weren't going to let me go home for a while. I called him and he was going to drive up to the hospital to sit with me. Soon after he got there, I had another contraction and Cameron's heartrate dropped to 80 again. Oh was I scared - this was the worst most helpless feeling I ever had. I just wanted him out so I could hold him and he'd be ok. They decided then and there that he had to be born, and not even 15 minutes later, Cameron Eric entered the world weighing 9lbs. 2 oz. He was perfect in every way. The cord had been up around his shoulder and every time I would contract, it would pinch it and make his heartrate drop. I still get shook up every time I think of this, but I praise God that his hand was in it the entire time. If I hadn't been up at the hospital that day getting a non-stress test, Cam could very well not be here today. I am truly thankful to my God for watching over us and giving us the gift of Cameron. He is a wonderful, spirited, energetic, sweet boy. He is making us laugh each new day with something he comes up with. :) We just can't imagine life without him. So today, I wish my son a very Happy 4th Birthday, and I thank my wondrous Lord for the gift of his life.

He Lives

Tomorrow we celebrate Easter. My family enjoys the typical Easter traditions, like coloring Easter eggs, finding hidden Easter baskets, and so on. But at the same time, we never lose sight of what Easter is truly about.

And that's Jesus.

Jesus.

He was born to die. Die for us - you and me. Every time I think of this, I am moved to tears. What a sacrifice.

And all for us.....who sin against him every-single-day.

We had a (as we do every year) Maundy Thursday service at our Church to remember Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. Every year this service is so meaningful and reiterates what I tend to lose sight of throughout the year. This time it was a tenebrae focused on the last seven words Jesus said on the cross. Each scene had a different character that played a role in Jesus' life and death. The one that moved me most was of Jesus' mother, Mary. As she looked up at her son hanging on that cross, what must that have felt like? I just can hardly imagine how much pain she went through. She knew it would happen one day, but how can anything prepare you for that?? Having two sons myself, I could hardly take watching that scene.

We have an amazing Lord. One who gave up His son, so that we might have eternal, everlasting life. Can you imagine that sacrifice? It's pretty humbling, isn't it?

But He arose! And He Lives! He lives in my heart, and I hope He lives in yours too.

This Easter, I wish you a wonderful time with your family and celebrating fun traditions with your kids, or whomever. But I pray that you focus on the cross, and on our Jesus. For this, is the true meaning of Easter.

He Lives!
